Edwin Arellano

Guitar, mandoline, mandola, composer and

musical producer

Born in Mérida, Venezuela. He started his musical studies at the Centro Universitario de Artes of the Los Andes University. He moves to Caracas and is accepted at the Escuela de Música Ars-Nova, where he received clases with Maestros María Eugenia Atilano, Gonzalo Micó and Ivan Adler. Graduated from the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales and specialized in Instrumental Performance: Mandolin and Guitar. He is the conductor of the instrumental chamber group “Multifonia”, professor at the Universidad Experimental de las Artes (UNEARTE), the Simón Bolívar Conservatory and is currently studying for a master degree in Latin American Musicology at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV).

 

As a soloist and an accompanist, he has experimented with different genres from academic music to latin jazz; this duality consolidates him as a versatile performer when it comes to playing different styles of music.

He has been a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Caracas, “Difuntos Extraños y Volátiles”, Mixtura, “Movida Acústica Urbana” (MAU), Encayapa, Cabijazz, “C4Trío”, “Joropo Jam”; and has collaborated with great performers such as: Ilan Chester, Kiara, Hany Kauam, José Luis Rodríguez, Mirna Ríos, Mayra Martí, Emmy Herrera, Otmaro Ruiz, Gonzalo Micó, Biella Da Costa, Carlos “Nene” Quintero, Víctor Mestas, Aquiles Báez, Fabby Olano, Andrés Briceño, Luisa Elena Paesano, Álvaro Falcón, Luis Pino, Rubén Rebolledo, among others. With the band “Agua de Luna” and the contemporary music group “Los Sinvergüenzas”, he has represented his country in Europe and the Antilles, demonstrating in each performance his originality both as a music arranger and composer.

 

In the present, he is an exclusive artist for Yamaha Guitar & Bass, Godin Mandolin, D’Addario Strings, Planet Wave Accesories and “Estuches Willy Mayo”; musical producer for several publicity campains on the radio, television and recordings with many soloists of renowned trajectory, being awarded by the Grammy Awards with a certificate in recognition of his participation in the collection “Tesoros de la Música Venezolana” from the singer song-writer Ilan Chester, as the best folklore album in 2010.
