Venezuelan musician thoroughly trained in his country and fruit of the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Venezuela. His training as a general musician has allowed him to experiment in different areas in the artistic environment as a performer, a composer and also as an orchestral conductor.
In the 1990’s, he participated in the National Flute Orchestra Project, an institution where he worked both as an Associate Director (1996-2000) as well as Principal Director (2000-2004). In the field of Chamber Music, he has been a founder and a member of several ensembles such as the “Quinteto de Vientos Inocente Carreño”, “Ensamble de Flautas Aulos” and “Miquirebo Cuarteto de Flautas de Venezuela”. With each of these ensembles he has developed an important labor as a composer and an arranger in the genre of instrumental music with traditional roots, and he has collaborated as well in recording projects as a composer, producer and as a performer.
Now twenty years have passed since he began his journey in the field of musical composition, a career that has taken him to the creation of a wide catalogue that includes solo concerts (5), music for mixed ensembles (trios, quartets, brass and woodwinds ensembles, etc), and symphonies. In the year of 2006, he participated as a co-editor for the “Autores Latinoamericanos para Flauta” colection, a project that reunited him with José Antonio Naranjo under the sponsorship of the Vicente Emilio Sojo Foundation.
The opportunity to conduct his own creations eventually attracted him to explore the field of orchestral conducting, pursuing further studies at the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales with Maestro Sergio Bernal, and receiving master classes with Maestros Eduardo Marturet, Rodolfo Saglimbeni and Alfredo Rugeles. He has conducted the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, Camerata Criolla and the Symphony Orchestras of Merida, Falcon, Guarico, Nueva Esparta and Lara, in different occasions.
He currently works as the assistant of the principal flutist in the flutes section of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, offers workshops for the main Youth and Children’s Orchestras of El Sistema in Caracas, he is also a member of the venezuelan contemporary music groups “Los Sinvergüenzas” and “Onkora”, and has been a member of educational missions of the UNESCO, the OAS and the Conservatorio Andino Itinerante from the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), carrying out several projects in countries like the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Honduras and Belize.
